1. Why I would like to serve on the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:

I would like to help the Chamber and its members grow their businesses whether for profit or non-profit.  Since joining the Chamber over two years ago I have been continually impressed with the staff and its members.  I like surrounding myself with quality people and businesses.  I want to positively impact my community by serving on this board!

2. My past experiences I feel will be an asset to this position:

I have worked with Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized businesses, and start-ups.  I have managed a $100 million-dollar international business as a CEO and have been a CMO and Vice President of Marketing.   I have hired, developed, and improved many marketing departments and have always focused on customer satisfaction and profit.  Understanding all elements of a business’s budget is critical to grow and become profitable.  I can take complicated structures and processes and boil them down to actionable steps to improve business structure and performance while simplifying operations.  My focus has always been to understand the customer needs, competitors, and market trends and then develop business plans that meet and exceed business objectives.  This experience enabled me to launch my consulting business, Profitum Consulting, to help clients improve their business’s profit momentum.  Finally, I was intrigued by the opportunity to help people with their largest investment, so I studied to get my real estate license and have enjoyed helping both buyers and sellers achieved their real estate objectives.  At the end of the day, my intense focus on customer satisfaction, market understanding, and people development has allowed me to be successful and I am now at a point where I want to share that experience to serve our community and the Chamber.

3. Please share any other relevant information that makes you feel qualified for this position. Include any thoughts and ideas you may have which would benefit the Board, Chamber members and community of Fallbrook.

Experience- Executive management experience with international business experience. Proven ability to work well with and manage people to perform at their best.  Experience in recognizing opportunities and developing plans to seize those opportunities.  Past president of the Rancho Buena Vista High School Longhorn Foundation tasked with fundraising for the school’s needs.  Current Board Member of the Hewlett Packard So Cal Retiree Club.  Long standing member and volunteer at North Coast Church.  With any new position, I do a great deal of listening and ask a lot of questions to see what challenges and opportunities exist.  This will include the Chamber staff, board members, and the Chamber members. I like to uncover what is working well and determine how we can increase our ability to positively impact the businesses and the community.  I am a strong believer in servant leadership and it is how I have managed to be successful throughout my career. How can I improve and help any individual that I meet? To improve you must get out and listen to the members, the businesses, and the community.  From this information, develop the list of opportunities and actions and go after making them happen.  The list is always bigger than can be done so prioritizing this list with input from the appropriate stakeholders insures you are working on the most important items that will have the largest possible impact.

1. Why I would like to serve on the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:

After living in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook for 19 years and having retired from government service in December 2020, I am anxious to serve on the Chamber Board of Directors. I am lucky to have many close friends in Fallbrook.  My husband and I patronize our local businesses and attend special events year-round.  I would very much like to be a part of the Board of Directors to continue the growth and exciting future of Fallbrook. My focus areas are the continuation of the economic growth of Fallbrook and the continued efforts of our wonderful nonprofits that contribute to the beautification of our shared community and our citizens in need.

My friends and I have just started a nonprofit called The Community Stack. The mission of The Community Stack is to “stack” our local nonprofits with the goods and services they need to fulfill their needs in servicing their clients.  The Community Stack will be a conduit between our local nonprofits and the donors and vendors that support them. Serving on the Board of Directors will allow me to represent and grow The Community Stack as we help all our local nonprofits care and nurture our Friendly Village.

2. My past experiences I feel will be an asset to this position:

In December 2020 I retired after 30 years of government service in The United States Marine Corps.  As an analyst, my area of concentration shifted early in my career, where I then spent 20 years analyzing and improving Marine Corps processes in the areas of supply, logistics, support, maintenance, and repair of Marine Corps assets and infrastructure.  My skill set includes project management, facilitation, data and statistical analysis, and process reengineering. I believe my background will allow me to be a productive member of not only the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors but also the Fallbrook Community, offering my assistance whenever requested by our local businesses and nonprofits.

3. Please share any other relevant information that makes you feel qualified for this position. Include any thoughts and ideas you may have which would benefit the Board, Chamber members and community of Fallbrook.

My husband and I served as the volunteer Chairs of the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund San Diego Chapter for five years. In this role we hosted a golf tournament each year to raise funds for the children of Marines who desired to attend post high school educational programs including college, trade schools, and specialty educational programs.  We both love to provide our support in any way we can and stand ready to support Fallbrook in these types of endeavors.

One area I would like to focus on is increasing our volunteer network in all areas of support to our local community.  It appears to me that Fallbrook has a “core” group of volunteers that consistently contribute no matter what the call is for.  I believe we can reach out to the many residents of Fallbrook and conduct a “contribution campaign” that will increase the visibility and understanding of the needs of our Village.   The goal would be to enlist many residents to volunteer if even for one event per quarter or year.  As an unincorporated area of San Diego County, it is imperative that we control our destiny, much of which can be done through volunteerism.

I would also focus on business growth and development within our Friendly Village.  By focusing on Main Avenue and the surrounding areas, the areas where the Fallbrook Regional Health District has a presence, and on our agricultural businesses, I believe we would bring tourists and surrounding communities here to enjoy Fallbrook.

1. Why I would like to serve on the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:

When I moved to Fallbrook it was my goal to get involved in my “new” community. I feel that serving on the Chamber’s Board of Directors would be the best opportunity for me to do that. The Chamber has the widest reach of any local organization and the most diverse programming, and it would allow me to assist with the most diverse needs of our community.

2. My past experiences I feel will be an asset to this position:

I have served on Boards before and this is always a good place for me. I am an innovative leader that uses creativity and thinking outside the box to help materialize the team’s visions for improvement or development.

In my past BOD roles, I have served in the following roles: VP Marketing, Director, President, Secretary, and Treasurer. I can follow structure, understand decorum, and work as part of an effective team.

3. Please share any other relevant information that makes you feel qualified for this position. Include any thoughts and ideas you may have which would benefit the Board, Chamber members and community of Fallbrook.

I consider myself a problem-solver and a broker (of sorts). I am eager to continue learning about our community and the Chamber’s programming so that I may offer ideas to help grow our businesses and make our community richer (in every sense of the word).

Some ideas I am interested to explore:

  1. Growing our Farmer’s Market
  2. “Lost fruit” food drive (monetizing a fruit pick up as a community event but to help serve families in need or the food bank, or ???).
  3. Business owner’s networking seminar series (possibly focus on women in business or Women-Owned Small Businesses)

Just ideas….. I never seem to run out of them.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve. I will assist in any way I can to ensure success.

Thank You
