In 1976, three gentlemen saw a need in Fallbrook for our youth, and through tough work established Fallbrook Youth Soccer League. The first year, 12 teams were formed. Since then, we have grown to 46 recreational teams, 10 competitive teams in our Fall Season and 42 teams during our Spring season. In total we are seeing over 500 players annually, eagerly putting on their uniforms and cleats and hitting the soccer fields.
The demographics of Fallbrook is unlike our surrounding communities. Where neighboring communities have the abilities to pull players from cities that border them and are separated simply by streets. Fallbrook is pretty much an isolated community. We are not a community that receives City Funds and we do not have a large Corporate donation base. We are a small community league, that relies soley on our registration fees and community sponsors to be able to fund our programs.
In 2019 FYSL will launch it's 43rd season. FYSL functions as a non-profit organization and a member of California Youth Soccer Association - South (CYSL or Cal South) and is affiliated with United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) and is composed of an entirely volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer coaching staff. These are moms and dads who after a hard days work, eagerly put on their Coaches cap and prepares his/her team for the week-end game.
Approximately 80% of our players participate in The Recreational Division. The teams are formed using a rating system which describes the individuals abilities. This is followed by a "blind draft". It is our intent to provide a balances team concept and to provide an environment of wholesome, competitive fun while developing good character and sportsmanship, team play and an education in the rules and skills of soccer.
