26th Annual Symphony "Pops" On The Green

Thursday, Aug. 18, 5:30 pm
Where: Grand Tradition Estate 1600 S. Mission Rd. Fallbrook

Long summer days and warm evenings signal the return of Fallbrook's annual Symphony 'Pops" on the Green presented by Fallbrook Music Society. For one performance only, Thursday, August 18, the evening air will be filled with the "The Best of Broadway" music presented by a special engagement of the world-renowned San Diego Symphony, under the direction of conductor Matthew Garbutt.

Opening the evening with a patriotic celebration of "The Armed forces Salute," the Fallbrook chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will display the Colors.  Then America's Broadway musical tradition comes alive with such favorite composers as Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Irvin Berlin, Cole Porter, Lerner and Lowe, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.   Joining the orchestra, soloist Melissa Chaty, Miss California 2007, will sing "I Could Have Danced All Night" and selections from works such as West Side Story and Evita.

Fallbrook's Grand Tradition Estate is the setting for the evening, where the serene heart-shaped lake and beautiful landscape make a natural backdrop for symphony entertainment. This performance promises to be one the Symphony's most exciting yet—it's a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to discover great music on a warm summer night with great Broadway favorites.
Brenda Montiel, Fallbrook Music Society President says, "Each year Fallbrook Music Society presents an affordable symphony concert for hundreds of local area residents in this remarkable setting.” She added, "For many Fallbrook area residents this is their only opportunity to experience a live symphony orchestra performance." "We invite families, military and music fans of all ages to come out and experience the power of a live symphony concert," she added.

This year, the "Pops" concert is generously supported by Silver Sponsor The Hegardt Group; Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and Bronze Sponsors Pacific Western Bank and Lorenz Fiduciary Services, Inc.
Fallbrook Music Society encourages those attending to bring blankets and 24-inch, low-backed chairs for lawn seating - and picnics are always welcome. This year, complete boxed picnic dinners (priced at $11 each), will be prepared by a local favorite, Dominick's Deli, and include a choice of a delicious turkey, roast beef or vegetarian sandwich, pasta salad, a cookie and a choice of bottled water or a soft drink.

Concertgoers may also choose to order a reserved table for 4, 6 or 10 people, which are also available by reservation through the Music Society's Box office.
General admission tickets for the event are $25 adult and $5 for children 12 and under. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Concert tickets, reserved tables and boxed picnic dinners may be purchased by calling Fallbrook Music Society at (760) 451-8644. More information is available at www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
